WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Nike is looking for a Senior Counsel, Privacy based in Nike’s Greater China Headquarters in Shanghai. In this leadership role, you will oversee Nike’s China based Privacy legal function and act as a trusted advisor on privacy law and legal trends in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The role will also advise on how Nike’s privacy program should respond to trends in Greater China.

The best candidates for this role have deep privacy legal expertise in China. Successful candidates can communicate effectively about privacy at all levels and work cross-functionally in a complex organizational structure.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON? As the Senior Counsel, Privacy for Greater China, you'll provide well-informed, timely and practical privacy legal counseling to your business partners on the ground. You will inform Nike's Global Legal Privacy strategy and advise on implementation of enterprise-wide policies from the Greater China perspective. You will identify and assess privacy risks facing Nike and drive solutions to address those risks. You will oversee and manage Privacy compliance advice to areas including Digital Commerce, Marketing, Technology, Digital Product, Information Security, Data Governance, HR, Government Affairs, Audit and Risk Management. You will provide subject matter expertise on privacy and information security provisions within commercial deals. You will guide company-wide and role-based education and awareness campaigns. WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH? This role reports to the Global Privacy Senior Legal Counsel and sits within NIKE's Global Privacy, Ethics, and Compliance team in the legal department. The role has a dotted line to the VP, Legal Greater China and will be a critical member of the Greater China Legal leadership team. You will partner with the Compliance Operations team in identifying Greater China priority initiatives. You will act as a subject matter escalation point for the Privacy Analyst team when the initiatives they are assessing impact Greater China. You also will partner closely with members of the wider Nike legal teams throughout the geography as well as the global Privacy team. WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO NIKE? What we're looking for: * Bachelor of law from a top Chinese law school. * Admission to practice law in China is a must. Admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction is a plus. * Overseas legal education is preferred but not required. * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin. * Multi-culture awareness and communication skills. · Minimum 10+ years' experience in the practice of law with a significant focus on privacy, information security and consumer digital experiences. A combination of law firm and corporate legal department experience in these areas is an advantage. · Experience counseling on digital products, marketing and advertising technology, technology infrastructure, or other applications of privacy to tech configurations. · Proficient in commercial transactions, including how specific contract clauses affect privacy, security and digital products. · Sound risk assessment capabilities in complex and constantly evolving regulated areas. · Experience advising on business practices in a global company is preferred. · IAPP Certification would be an advantage.
